The crew team is funded through a number of sources. Being under the umbrella of the Department of Recreational Sports at Virginia Tech, we are given a budget each year, in varying amount, to maintain our team. Funds are also obtained from private donors/alumni to help let our team prosper. Our final source is from the rowers themselves. Each year, through dues and fundraising, the members of Virginia Tech Crew support their team.

Fundraising opportunities are provided to the rowers each semester to help individuals meet their fundraising obligation. Our annual 5k Race is one of the ways that rowers can earn money. We have additional fundraising opportunities through Kroger and Food Lion.

A new project this year is the Rent-A-Rower program. This program allows members of the community to hire our able-bodied rowers for a half or full day of work in a multitude of projects. Contact our Men's Vice President Brad Losego to find out more about this program and how you can get involved.
